Nehmen is the infinitive, it's also used as the formal command verb. For example “Nehmen Sie bitte eine Tasse.” “Please take a cup"
“Nimm” is the command form for “du.” One doesn't have to say 'du' in this case as it's understood. “Nimm einfach eine Tasse" “just take a cup”
