“sie” with a small s is a german personal pronoun that means “she”. The verb form it takes is conjugated in the 3rd person singular.
E.g. sie ist eine schöne Frau. (She is a beautiful woman)
The second “sie” (once again with a small s) means “they”. This sie takes a verb that is conjugated in the 3rd person plural.
E.g. sie sind schöne Frauen. ( They are beautiful women)
The last “Sie”, the one with a capital S, is for addressing a person/perșons with whom one has a formal relationship. It stands for “You” or “You all”. The verb form it takes is the 3rd person plural ( yes, same as the one taken by our second sie)
E.g. Sie sind eine schöne Frau. (You are a beautiful lady)
or, Sie sind schöne Frauen. ( You are all beautiful ladies)
p.s. Reader beware: saying “you are beautiful” to lady/ladies with whom one has a formal relationship could be fraught with risks.
So how would one differentiate between the first two “sie”s? By the different verb form each takes, of course!
